Age UK is the country's largest charity dedicated to helping everyone make the most of later life. They believe in a world where everyone can love later life and work every day to achieve this. They help more than seven million people every year, providing companionship, advice and support for older people who need it most. They stand up and speak for all those who have reached later life, and also protect the long-term interests of future generations.

The challenge

Age UK supports and assists a network of more than 150 local Age UKs, which between them provide an extensive network throughout England. The Age UK Business directory is a free service to help older people find a trustworthy business in their local area; listing trades such as, builders, plumbers, joiners, plasterers, gardeners, roofers, etc. as well as other relevant services, such as mobility aid providers, solicitors and hairdressers. Age UK required a central number that callers could use and find information on services local to them.

Telecoms World Solution

Telecoms World provided Age Concern UK with a dedicated Freephone number which their callers could use to connect with local trades people that have been fully vetted and checked by their staff. The number was set-up with location-based-call-routing which cleverly identifies the caller’s location and connects them to services in their local area.

Results

Having a dedicated Freephone number enables Age Concern UK to pay for and promote just one telephone number across their website and other media to the elderly people they support.
